Ensemble East, a brand-new chamber orchestra based in East Anglia, is coming to Swaffham. Bringing with them music by Mozart, Schumann and Beethoven.

This orchestra consists of some of the best and most talented players in the area. It performs in various forms: as a full chamber orchestra, as a wind ensemble of various types, as a mixed wind and string chamber group and as a string group.

Ensemble East often performs without a conductor, this concert is no exception; the effect of this is to create a more intimate atmosphere; it demands more of the players but repays he effort with pure vibrancy.

Ensemble East pays careful attention to the musical style needed by the work they're playing... for example early Beethoven to late Beethoven becomes a very different type of sound. We're not precious about this, just fascinated by the interweaving development of ideas and the determination to produce the best possible outcome.

As for this concert we have the classical Mozart and the early Beethoven sandwiching the romantic Schumann concerto (even here, though Schumann uses the classical framework in the outer movements, from which to base his more romantic spontaneity.) We hope this is a sandwich that will give you much pleasure.
